POST DOCTORAL PROGRAM

Program Description

This is a rare opportunity for new graduates to join a modern private practice setting with an emphasis on evidence-based clinical training with individuals, couples, and families seeking outpatient therapy.  Postdoctoral fellows receive supervision and training from psychological experts in their respective specialties who believe that diversity drives excellence. This practice is as culturally and ethnically diverse as the city in which it resides with the mission of advancing and revolutionizing mental health care to focus on the unique needs of the residents of New York City.

Fellows will have the opportunity to receive training in at least two of four clinical tracks) the Gottman Method for couple’s therapy, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal, and psychodynamic therapies.

Fellows will also receive specialized training in a variety of areas relating to providing services in a private practice setting to include trauma focused evaluation and treatment. Trauma focused training will also address treating trauma stemming from identity related stressors. Training in promoting mental health and providing education in organizational and educational settings. Training in addressing sexuality and gender related issues in psychotherapy.

Fellows participate in weekly individual and group supervision, case conference and professional development seminar. This will allow for intensive training on the fellows own cases as well as the opportunity for seeing how senior clinicians handle problems they encounter when implementing and adapting evidence-based practice to meet the needs of their clients.
